With Christmas almost upon us, we're making final preparations here at 'The Oak'. We're looking forward to a great time, with two big party nights on Christmas Eve and New Years Eve. Live music from two of our most popular acts ~ Rob Chapman on Christmas Eve and 'Rolly & Stacy' on New Years Eve ~ will ensure a fantastic atmosphere. But that's not all ... if you feel the need for speed we're dusting down the Scalextric on Sunday night ~ Dads, why not bring down the kids and give mum a well deserved night off? Or ... take a bottle of whiskey or port off the Landlord for free next Tuesday night ~ if you can win at our Dominoes Knockout. Don't forget that we're still serving Christmas Meals ~ reservations are recommended at this busy time. Dining on Christmas Day and on New Years Eve evening is by reservation only. We've got something for everyone this Christmas ~ more details on our festive events are given below, along with our holiday schedule. Our first news photo shows last months 'Folk in the Oak'. A big thanks to John, Ed, Clare, Laura and their friends for keeping us lavishly entertained. We'll be having another 'Folk in the Oak' in February. One unexpected treat was that three of our visitors, Phoebe Thomlinson and her two friends (from Brighton), gave us an unexpected and most welcome interlude of impromptu entertainment ~ thank you girls! Our third photo shows the pubs Big Fairy (no, it's not the Christmas Quiz, so no answers on a postcard please), but she does look rather splendid on top of the tree in the bar. Some say she's a fairy ... others that she's an angel of beer! Just in case you thought we'd be going into hibernation in January ~ no chance! We've got a special Winter Warmers Menu lined up for you to enjoy when you're back from the sales with a hole in your pockets. We've also got a cracking deal for the weekend of Burns Night (25th January) ~ not only will we be doing Haggis, Tatties and Neeps at the bargain price of £5.95, but we'll also have a huge range of malt whiskies available at the special price of £1.50 per 35ml - och aye the noo (well, January 24th and 25th actually). Finally, as we approach this festive season, we'd both like to wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy and Prosperous New Year. Hope to see you soon, down at 'The Royal Oak' ... .... Steve & Eira |
