Pirate Party

Hi ....

We've had another busy month with our Darts and Dominoes Season kicking off; plus a bit of late sunshine in August and September to make up for the earlier Monsoon Season!

Steve inadvertently became a radio star last Wednesday as BBC Radio Shropshire rang to do a radio interview on Scalextric ~ having heard of our race evenings ~ on the 50th anniversary of the game. Our Bank Holiday Race Night was well supported with 15 finalists battling it out in the knockout. When the chequered flag went down Fred Rogers was declared winner, shown here receiving his prize from Eira, with Adam (in the foreground) the valiant runner up.

Eira's new hobby must be giving away booze (she really should be selling it!) because she's shown in our second picture presenting a bottle of whisky to Martin Morris, the winner of our September Dominoes Knockout. Gerald Hayley was the runner up. Capt'n Steve managed to get into our third shot - press ganging a bevy of beauties to be his crew at our Pirate Party.

Next month kicks off with a lively night of entertainment from 'The Fabulous Ronnie' on Saturday the 6th. Also, why not visit us for our Curry Night on Wednesday the 17th. All our curries are home cooked in our kitchen and made from fresh produce and authentic spices. We can prepare your chosen curry to be hot or mild according to your taste!

Later in the month we host the Harvest Auction, on the Sunday afternoon following the St James (Cardington) Harvest Service. In this annual tradition, those items donated to the church's Harvest Service are auctioned off by local auctioneer Paul Stephens, with the proceeds split between the church and local charities.

We round off the month in spine-tingling fashion with our Halloween 'Spooky Tales' night (Wednesday 31st). Lead by Mike Rust, we're looking forward to some blood curdling fun. Who knows, even 'Fred' the pub ghost might join in? There will also be a collection in aid of the Air Ambulance. Hope to see you soon, down at 'The Oak'.
