April Fools Quiz

I'll just have a tot

I'll just have a tot ...

Hi ....

Isn't it super that we have the light nights back again? It's a great opportunity to eat at 'The Oak' in the evenings ~ you can arrive in the light and we'll even endeavour to feed you before it gets dark, should you wish to get home in the light! In fact, our header photo was taken just before opening one evening last week.

Our first news photo this month shows Fred Rogers, the winner of our Scalectrix Challenge receiving his prize from Eira and shaking hands with the valiant runner up (one of whose cars Fred had borrowed for the evenings racing!). This is the second challenge that Fred's won and every 10 year old kid in the area is running scared of him ;-) Our second photo shows the winners of our April Fools Quiz, Peter and Anna Bright, receiving their prize from Steve. Participants now know that Russian chewy vodka bars are not real, but that the tooth implant telephone is (allegedly!).

Start em' young .... that's what we say (photo 3)! Just before you pick up your pens to write in letters of complaint ~ we must point out that 8 month old William Banham had just popped in for Sunday Lunch with Mum and Dad Caroline and Mark. The whisky on the bar was Mark's and William has just 17 years and 4 months to go before he can buy his own.

This week's highlights are our Fabulous Fish night tomorrow evening (Wednesday 16th) ~ where you can have a two course fish supper for less than our normal price for a main course. On Thursday we have our end of season Dominoes Knockout, fives and threes is the game with prizes for the winner and runner-up.

Next month we're offering a trip to the races, on Thursday the 1st of May ~ Hereford Races, sponsored by the Wye Valley Brewery. On Friday the 2nd May we have the welcome return of John Shepherd, Ed Drury and friends performing 'Folk at the Oak' ~ live folk music from 9pm ~ come down and get those toes a tappin' and hips a shakin'!

Further details of all these events are given below. We both hope you see you soon, down at 'The Royal Oak'.
