Daffs in the Hedgerow

Hi ....

Hello and Happy Easter ~ for this coming weekend! Things are looking bright now that January and February are over and we're looking forward to the lighter nights when the clocks go forward on Sunday the 30th March. Our news photos this month have a seasonal theme. Our 'header' photo shows the pub in the weak winter sunlight, with the Scarlet Oak Tree and Hedgerows bare and awaiting the coming of spring. Indoors, on our first photo, Cokie the Pub Cat enjoys a rest on the bench seat by the fire ~ fully blazing at the time. Outside the winter crocus in our troughs have already been and gone (photo 2) ~ this photo being taken about a month ago. And today we photographed the daffodils in the Gretton Lane, already coming into flower to be glorious over the Easter Weekend.

We're pulling out all the stops this weekend, repeating our popular Mothers Day offer of a two course Roast Dinner for £9.95 or three courses for £11.95. We'll be running our usual Sunday Menu and Specials Board as well; booking is highly recommended! Also, on Easter Sunday Evening, we're holding another Scalectrix Challenge from 8pm. We don't normally condone drinking and driving ~ but here's your chance!! (Just leave the full sized vehicle at home!)

On Tuesday April the First we want to fool you ~ with our April Fools Quiz! Whether it be bacon flavoured socks or storing nuclear waste on the moon ~ can you spot the porkers in the prime time? Teams of up to four, starting at 9pm, we're giving away a Gallon of Ale (really!) if you're the best at sorting fact from fiction!

"I must go down to the sea again, to the lonely sea and the sky". No need to go that far, as we're having our Fabulous Fish specials night on Wednesday the 16th April! Choose from a range of specials including Mussels to start followed by Seared Tuna with Red Pepper and Chilli Jam ~ Mmmm; two courses for only £10.95!

We're please to report that the road from Longville, closed for cable-laying last month, is now fully open. That's all for now .... hope to see you soon, at 'The Royal Oak'.

For example - fact or fiction? The boyfriend of a Kansas woman who sat on his toilet for so long that her body became stuck to the seat should face charges, the local sheriff has said. The sheriff had pried the seat from the toilet with a crow bar so doctors could surgically remove it from the woman, who had been sitting there for around two years. The boyfriend had tried to coax her out of the bathroom every day and her reply would be ~ "Maybe tomorrow". (The answer is in our 'News in Brief' Section)
