Wheatland

Hi ....

In just over a week we'll have the Christmas decorations up - so, not surprisingly, this Newsletter has a Christmassy theme. Have you bought your presents yet? - neither have we!

A big thanks to Tony Hughes for keeping us so excellently entertained on the 28th of last month. This coming Saturday (25th) we are host to those mad fellows, Tim and Rich of the Melomanics - a night not to be missed! And don't forget that next month we have two big PARTY NIGHTS - Christmas Eve with music from Rob Chapman and New Years Eve with 2CV - details below.

We were very pleased to have the horses and hounds of the Wheatland riding from the pub the other weekend. They made a splendid sight - re-enacting a scene that must have been witnessed here many times over both decades and centuries!

Barred from the bar - he's uncontrollable, never pays, stays out all night and would eat the food off your plate - meet 'Dram', our pub cat, below.

Finally, as we approach this festive season, we'd both like to wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy and Prosperous New Year. Hope to see you soon, down at 'The Royal Oak' ...

Dram the Pub Cat

Dram the Pub Cat .... He's Barred

Whilst we're both animal lovers, we don't permit animals in the bar whilst food is being served. Outside of that, on Sunday nights for example, well behaved Rovers, Spots or Rosies are welcome to join their masters and mistresses at the bar.

However, there's one wily rogue who's always looking for a chance to slip past security and nab the best seat in the house! In fact, such is Dram's hypnotic charm, that we've even had complaints that he's gone after he's been caught and evicted!

Prize Draw ....

On Saturday the 18th. November, Natalie Morse drew a name out of the bowl for our two bottles of wine, watched by Jade and Eira. The lucky winner was Ray Thomas. Congratulations Ray, your wines await your collection from the bar.

Commiserations everyone else - but why not drop your details in again to be entered into next months draw for a bottle of Warre's Late Bottled Vintage 1999 port (just the thing to accompany your Christmas Stilton).

Below (left) we see last months winner Jim Gibson, who's

recently moved to the area, collecting his bottle of port whilst enjoying a meal in the bar.

Also, on the right, Trevor Davis and his friend Robert called for lunch this month and collected the bottle of champagne that Trevor won in our August Draw.
